Sleeping is a vital component of a person’s health, therefore do not suppress it!

WHY SLEEPING?
1 It makes your heart healthy.
•Lack of sleep has been associated with worsening of blood pressure and cholesterol, which are risk factors of heart diseases and stroke.

  1. Sleep may help prevent Cancer.
    According to research, exposure to light at night reduces melatonin levels, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles, and is thought to have capacity of protecting against growth of tumors. Roughly, people working late shifts may have a higher risk of developing Colon or breasts Cancer.
  2. Sleeping reduces stress.
    Increased stress hormones caused by lack of sleep raises the level of inflammation in your body. This create a greater risk for heart related diseases.
  3. Improves your memory and body tissue repair.
    • During sleep the brain process your day, making connections between events, sensory inputs, feelings & memories.
  4. Helps to lose weight. Appetite regulating hormones are disrupted by regular sleeping.

HOW MANY HOURS RECOMMEND THEN??
It’s dependent on the age:
3-5 years, 10-13 hrs
6-13 yesrs, 9-11hrs
14-17 years, 8-10 hours
Adults, 7-9 hours.

WHAT IF I SLEEP FEW HOURS ALWAYS?
• You eventually develop an underlying sleeping disorder. This may render your whole body underperforming, poor reasoning even at work, poor judgement and more health complications including “INSOMNIA” (lack of sleep at night).

HOW DO I INDUCE SLEEP?
To fall asleep easily you may:
√ Take a warm bath before sleep for cooling
√ listen to relaxing music
√ Exercise during the day
√ Have a comfortable sleep place.
√ Switch off lights
√ practice writing or reading before sleep
√ avoid caffeine drinks such as coffee
√ adjust sleeping positions
√ focus on staying awake(it makes you fall asleep instead)
